Children from Three Homes have a Ball at F&N Christmas Carnival
Pudu, Kuala Lumpur – December 2, 2016 was a day four-year-old Edmund Chan will probably remember for a long time. He had his photo taken with Santa Claus and received a big Christmas gift. But what he will probably remember the most are the games, prizes and sweet treats of candy floss and popcorn at the F&N Christmas Charity Carnival.
Organised by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&NHB), the carnival dubbed ‘Welcome to Santa’s Workshop!’ was held at the Kompleks Metro Pudu with 47 children from Angel Children’s Home, Rumah Impian and Rumah Kasih.
The complex, which was decorated with a beautifully-adorned-12-feet Christmas tree, sparkling lights and balloons, made the spirit of the holiday season come alive as the children arrived early, anxiously anticipating the fun filled day ahead.
The children had a ball participating in numerous activities with F&NHB employees including a gingerbread man decorating contest and a fun Christmas dance. Several mini game stations were also set up namely Santa’s Sling Shot, Santa’s Runaway Reindeer, Find Santa’s Key and Santa’s Bucket Ball, which had the children excitedly running from one game stall to the other while enjoying sweet treats in between.
Speaking at the event, Mr Lim Yew Hoe, F&NHB Chief Executive Officer said that the Company was delighted to share the joy of the festivity with these children.
“F&N continues to enjoy a special place in the hearts of Malaysians even after over 130 years. Our drinks have become the perfect complement for all occasions; but none more so than during joyous festive celebrations. Our products put a smile on the faces of our consumers in keeping with our tagline “Pure Enjoyment, Pure Goodness”.
Similarly, we want to spread joy and share our prosperity with all levels of our community. This is a cause close to our hearts as we believe that the festivities are to be celebrated together and we want to ensure that no one is left behind,” he added.
“The Christmas Carnival was such fun. I enjoyed the games especially Santa’s Sling Shot and even got to win a Nerf gun. We rarely get the opportunity to play such games and what’s more meet fun people from F&N. They were sporting enough to play the games with us,” said 15-year-old Heng Chee Leong from Angel Children’s Home.
Eleven-year-old Nandhini was thrilled to win a Frozen colouring book at the carnival as that is her favourite cartoon movie. “I’m very happy to celebrate Christmas with F&N and I’m looking forward to spending time with my mother when I go back to visit for the holidays,” said the aspiring policewoman from Rumah Impian.
Kemberley Yong of Rumah Kasih loves the Christmas season as the children get to put up the Christmas tree together and celebrate with a special dinner. “The party with F&N was great fun and I loved all the gifts and prizes I won. The carnival helped make the Christmas season come alive for us,” said the 13-year-old.
After a scrumptious lunch, the Company distributed bags of Christmas goodies containing F&N gifts and stationery sets to the children.
“In the spirit of the festivity, it is truly our privilege to spend some time with the children and share what we have. I hope that this celebration and our little contribution will help the children look forward to a bright and meaningful Christmas.
We would like to thank the administrators of Angel Children’s Home, Rumah Impian and Rumah Kasih for giving us the opportunity and thank all the kids for welcoming us with open arms,” said Mr Lim.
