Orphans Graduate From Leadership Program with Flying Colours

Forty-four boys from Rumah Ilham now understand what it takes to be capable young leaders thanks to a leadership program organised by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd and Leadernomics.
The children recently received their certificates after completing The Rumah Ilham Leaderonomic Club Y2 program 2016, which comprise of 30-hour sessions on the importance of diligence, being responsible, building confidence, strategic thinking, planning and effective execution of projects.
The children, most of whom are from disadvantaged families and have tough childhoods, overcame their circumstances and have become inspirational to those around them. Most recently, the children took up the challenge to organise a motivational project at the Masjid Al-Hidayah Sungai Penchala. The project was held successfully and received the praises of Masjid Al-HIdayah committee members. The committee members were also pleased that the youths from their community were given the privilege to learn from the children of Rumah Ilham.
“I am extremely proud of the kids from Rumah Ilham who have shown interest and have dedicated their time on this project. We are pleased to say that we have identified several potential leaders among the children. Through this program, we hope they will continue to build on the skills they have learnt even upon leaving the home and starting their tertiary education”, said Cariessa Goh, Manager, Corporate Affairs of F&N Holdings Berhad.
“It is really rewarding to see the kids gain confidence in themselves and open up to us during the time spent together. We have watched them grow and are proud to be part of their development journey,” said Ms Cariessa as she gave out the certificates to the children.
Datuk Haji Hassanuddin Bin Ali, founder of Rumah Ilham was delighted with the progress of the children and was grateful to F&N for assisting the home since 2009 with the F&N Sudut Iqra library contribution and thereafter, the Leadership Program.
“I have witnessed a huge development in the children since the start of the Leadership Program and I am glad that the skills learnt will be passed down to the younger children through the examples of their older ‘brothers’. Hence, we are assured that there will be a succession of potential leaders who will continue to guide the younger ones in Rumah Ilham,” he said.
The kids were treated to a sumptuous dinner at Rebung Restaurant, followed by the much-awaited graduation ceremony.
