Jom Get Fit While Giving Back To Nature With F&N

The initiative’s name is synonym with the F&N brand essence that advocates an active lifestyle among Malaysians through simple physical activities that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere, individually or with family and friends.
Held in collaboration with the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT), F&NHB’s inaugural “Fit & Nature” activity was organised in conjunction with the official launch of the Terengganu drawbridge. The eco-friendly exercise programme involved plogging, the latest fitness trend that originated in Sweden which combines jogging and collecting litter, from the Swedish word for picking up, ‘plocka upp’.
The community event attracted more than 150 participants, including F&NHB management and employees from East Coast region, and also volunteers from MBKT. It began with a Zumba warmup session before the participants set off at the starting point at the Teluk Ketapang beach which saw them picking up rubbish while jogging along the 6 km route.
F&NHB Chief Executive Officer, Lim Yew Hoe believed that the “Fit & Nature” initiative would motivate the public to engage in an eco-friendly workout routine that marries fitness and environmental advocacy which can improve overall health, as well as do our part to maintain the safety and cleanliness of our natural surroundings.
“We want to empower Malaysians to take charge of their lives by adopting an active lifestyle for better health while emphasising the importance of preserving the environment. F&N’s “Fit & Nature” initiative is a fun and fulfilling programme that not only aims to contribute to a safer and greener environment but also encourages the community to develop a sense of purpose and value in life.
“We feel honoured to kick-off this meaningful initiative with MBKT and spread the message that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility to shape a brighter and more sustainable future for everyone. We truly appreciate the participants’ selfless time and efforts in coming together to spruce up the designated areas in our inaugural “Fit & Nature” programme. We hope that the event will instil a sense of ownership, volunteerism, environmental awareness and civic responsibility in the public so that they will continue to play an integral role in conserving the planet and its natural resources,” Lim added.
Meanwhile, Mayor of the Kuala Terengganu City Council, Tuan Haji Shahidan Bin Embok commended F&NHB’s contribution in raising awareness, educating, engaging and mobilising the community to partake in a meaningful activity that can help the public improve their overall health and make a difference to the environment.
“MBKT is responsible towards developing a clean, safe and healthy community environment in Kuala Terengganu and is constantly advocating public involvement in our local sustainable development activities. Corporate and public support are crucial to help us advance, in tandem with our aspiration to become a developed and sustainable city that is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the local community.
“We would like to thank F&NHB for their leadership role in implementing green efforts to address sustainability in Kuala Terengganu and to inspire the local community to be active and do their part for the environment. We look forward to establishing a productive and long-term relationship with F&NHB for the wellbeing of society at large,” said Tuan Haji Shahidan.
The F&N “Fit & Nature” initiative is an extension of the ‘F&N Go Green++ Programme’, an internal recycling drive which collected more than 76,000kg of recyclable items last year. The success of the ‘F&N Go Green++ Programme’ in 2018 has motivated F&NHB employees to share sustainable practices beyond the workplace which aims to help create value for the communities it serves. Hence, the birth of the F&N “Fit & Nature” initiative this year, which continues the Group’s efforts in promoting environmental preservation and inspiring Malaysians to adopt an active lifestyle through public engagement activities.
Moving forward, F&NHB aims to carry out more activities that complement the “Fit & Nature” theme in hopes of building thriving communities that share a common goal to enact positive changes.
